True Salvation

Seven Indicators of True Salvation

Introduction
Every person who believes they have a saving relationship with God should sincerely look at the following indicators of a born again experience and ask themselves if these indicators are in their life. If they are not, then the principles found in Scripture indicate you are not born again-you do not have a born again relationship through Jesus Christ and you need to get born again-saved.

Romans 10:9‐10 (NKJV)
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

To confess means to come into agreement. It means to declare. It means to acknowledge. A person must come into agreement that Jesus is Lord (God) and needs to be the Lord of their life
in order to be saved-born again.o believe means to be persuaded, to place confidence in, to rely on, to give credence to. A person must be persuaded that Jesus was raised from the dead to be born again. Not hope that He was.

Indicators
Indicator 1: A lifestyle of obedience to God. Though Christians stumble and make mistakes, the big picture direction and habit of a true believer becomes one of submission and obedience to Christ. They will want to read and follow God’s Word. The Holy spirit in their lives bends them toward greater and greater obedience.

Indicator 2: A confession of Jesus as the Christ, God’s Son. John 2:23 states: …whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, the one who confesses the Son has the Father.

Indicator 3; A lifestyle of repentance of sin. Luke 13:3, “Unless you repent, you will likewise perish.” Though we stumble in many ways, true believers will be confessing and turning away from sins, while false believers will not.

Indicator 4: Genuine love for other believers.
1 John 3:14-15, “We know that we have passed out of death unto life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life
abiding in him.”

God’s Spirit pours out God’s love into the hearts of God’s children. (Romans 5:5, Galatians 5:22)

Indicator 5: The discipline of God your Father. Hebrews 12:7-8, 11: “God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?” Have you experienced the clear discipline of your heavenly Father in your life?

Indicator 6: The presence of God’s Holy Spirit. 1 John 3:24, “This is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.” God’s Spirit in you will testify with your spirit that you are a child of God. (Romans 8:16). Note, it must be on the basis of the Word of God, not your feelings.

God’s spirit will also convict you of sin. (Romans 8:16)

God’s Spirit will reveal what God’s Word says when you read it. ((John 14:26)

You will be experiencing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life. (Galatians 5:22-23)

Indicator 7: Faith in Jesus alone for salvation (and not yourself and your works). “he who has the Son has life, He who does not have the Son does not have life…” (1 John 5:12-13)Not having a righteousness of our own…” (Philippians 3:9)
Have you been trusting in Jesus alone for your salvation, or trusting yourself or your church?

Summary
These seven indicators are signs of a changed life-litmus tests revealing whether God has really made you a new creation or not. These indicators do not come naturally and are impossible to fake over a long period of time.

Take a look at your life over a period of a few months or years and ask yourself do you see these things in your life:
Do you see a genuine love for other believers? Or not?

Repentance of sin? Or not?

Obedience to God? Or not?

The discipline of Father God? Or not?

The evidence of God’s Spirit? Or not?

A confession of Jesus as God’s Son? Or not?

A genuine faith in Jesus alone for salvation? Or not?

If the above is not true in your life, then you are most likely not born again and not going to heaven. You need to become born again. You need to ask Jesus Christ to save your soul from eternal punishment.

Here is a prayer you can pray (or something similar). The prayer does not save you, it is the sincere heart condition that comes from the prayer that saves you.)

Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve the judgment of God. I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins. I chose now to turn away from my sins (I know I cannot do this on my own, but give me the desire) and ask for Your forgiveness. Jesus, I’m making You the Lord and Boss of my life. Change me and help me now to live the rest of my life for You. Thank you for giving me a home in heaven with You when I die. Amen.
